Hi, I've just fitted the conversion to my morris 1000. It's not working at all, everything is connected where it should be. Has anyone had any problems with this? I've had to convert back for the time being but for £180 it is very frustrating!

Why do you want to fit this ?? The standard clutch release works brilliantly for thousands of us !! Can only suggest you ask the suppliers.....

I Didn't realise I have to have my car a certain way for this forum. Could I please see the rule book of what I can and can't do to upgrade my car? I'm sure 'thousands' of people have no problems with their clutch, wish I was one of them.

Since you don't tell us the supplier or type of conversion - I cannot offer anything better than 'ask the supplier'.... But As I suggested - this is a totally unnecessary modification for a standard car, appears to cost a small fortune - and doesn't work!! Fantastic....... So...why on earth...... ??? Did you also fit a (hopeless) rear crank oil seal ??

I'm trying to fix my car, the clutch has had issues since I bought her so I thought I'd try something else that might work. Surprise surprise it's the wrong thing.

Again, thanks for that great help for a struggling first time classic car owner, it's been soul crushing and degrading.

I can't see how a belligerent attitude wil help solve your problem.I also think Roys' point was that your clutch problem could be put right without spending the extra,and so far wasted money on a hydraulic clutch when as he rightfully said the standard clutch in good working condition is more than up to the job.
The opportunity for free advice from acknowledged very experienced experts shouldn't be taken for granted.

I can understand your frustration--and I have no doubt that the others above understand too.
It is very disappointing when you buy something, do some work on it and it doesn't work. I have had this happen lots of times with electronic kits.
It would help us if you would explain a little more about the kit and the nature of the problem.
Have you bled the system to get the air out?
Can you see any movement of the throwout arm when the pedal is depressed?

And we still don't know who the supplier is - or indeed why you think the standard clutch release mechanism doesn't work on your car - when it works perfectly well for thousands of others... Back to basics - what is the REAL problem? What engine? What gearbox? Is the clutch slipping/excessively heavy? We can't help you if you don't tell us ! We're not mind readers....although we do try.....

ESM sell a hydraulic clutch lifting kit for the 1098cc engine.....??

it 'only ' costs £125..... although perhaps with carriage and vat......could approach £180....

There's something reassuring about the Minors simple mechanical clutch, I've got a modern car (well relatively modern) for complication!

Whats actually wrong with the system, IE is it actually giving any clutch pressure,or just not lifting off enough to free it. If the system is fitted correctly ,then with hydraulic system the only issue is air in the system,they are self adjusting. They can be extremly stuborn to bleed the slave cylinder. Because there's no point at which they become locked up like a brake. Sometimes you need to remove the slave from the car and clamp the rod to hold the piston so that you can expel the air.I had an mgb once where I needed to do this. Just a bit more info needed.

I think we would need to know why the standard clutch wasn't 'working' - whatever that problem is - may well be the reason the hydraulic mechanism doesn't work.... But it looks like the OP has gone off in a sulk.....
