Anyone else restricted to daylight driving because of cataracts starting? Tried the coated glasses, almost useless. Optician says not bad enough for an op,and to be honest daylight vision is fine. Once it's dark every oncoming car blinds me. Got 4 classics that I would like to drive more! The boss is now doing all night driving... Good that I can have a drink but not fair really.

There are an increasing number of drivers who drive with their headlights out of adjustment, usually just on one side. Which doesn't help if you have your condition. While I'm posting, notice how many people drive vehicles not equipped with handbrakes or indicators these days. In fact I wonder how many of these characters have actually passed a driving test. One method of helping to avoid dazzle is to bias your vision towards the curb.

And those xenon headlights don't help. They're all far too bright and don't seem to be aimed correctly. They're a pain in the optic nerve. Personally, I would ban them.

factory xenons would have load sensors on the suspension that adjust headlamps according to how the suspension is when passengers and or load in boot. the problem arises when xenons are added to standard headlamps. does the MOT not test headlamps for correct headlamp bulbs and alignment

The xenons do seem especially bad. It's not all good news getting older!

There's definitely a problem with factory fitted xenon. I've had new Mercs, Jags and other makes blinding me. Both with vehicles approaching towards me and approaching from behind.
