I have a stripped down 1275 A+ block and crankshaft that I would like checking over by an engineer, with the potential to have it 'fettled' if needed. Can anyone recommend a motor engineering company in or near Colchester that is reputable?

I have just had some work done by Towler engineering, in Clacton on Sea. Hot washed my block for me, re ground the crank and fitted my new little ends.

A real old fashioned engineering place, don't be alarmed by the look as the premises are not grand, but the quality of their work is excellent. Been there years and we used to sub work out to them when I was on engineering in one of the local factories. Engine work is a staple diet for them, plenty of engine parts all tagged up in the racks.

Jason is the main engine man there, a very good engineer, you can in and have a sensible discussion with him on what you want doing, very sensibly priced as well, no ripping off.

Robertsons in Colchester used to be the engine recon people, never used them for that but if their rent a wreck hire cars are anything to go by !.

I have always used star engineering in chelmsford with no problems.
