Can you Please help? Do you live in Sussex and are you please able to come out and please inspect/look over a potential moggie purchase for me please? Expeneses and time paid for:negotiable
Basically I looked over a moggie today but got on the floor and noticed rot and was put off -sure it could do with some welding but some alarm bells went off when owner claimed it had MOT and horn and speedo etc were not working...I am new to this and would love some help please.
Basically I dont want a death trap and was wondering if any of you can please help?

Leave Sussex alone.

It's great down here.
Is 'it' in East Sussex or West Sussex?

What is the asking price....it could be a money pit and would not pass an MOT with a faulty horn.

The AA will inspect and report on a car for a fee.

Sat on our sheltered beach front today. Cool wind was coming off the land, so the sun was warm, the sea was calm, mrs wasn't around, ....... so it was just how the Chrismas holidays should be.

Thought Sussex has been over-run by immigrant Cricketer's - waving Romanian Willow bat's and offering to wash everyones car
for £5?

Not on our patch! Mostly very reasonable hard working Polish people. Nothing wrong with a £5 car wash anyway ..........

OK, why don't you take a trip down to Sussex and give him the benefit of your expertise Roy?

Com'on peeps, someone's contacted the club for some proper advice and all he gets is backchat amongst members.!
Basically, most things are fixable on a Minor and it is the ideal car to learn on. If you see rot, you can get the panels from most places online - ESM, Bull Motif or Morris Minor Centre Bath are all good starting points for an idea of prices. Then you buy a welder or pay someone. The price of engines are on the rise - the days of a £50 engine are long gone, try £150 as a decent starting point and £400 for a 1275. Plenty of modifying upgrades - look at JLH website for an idea. The Morris Minor Forum is good for modification advice as is the MMOC Modification Forum.
With young kids and limited skills, I struggle with the 'hands on stuff' but look forward to learning so I bought the best I could afford. £1000 still buys you a MOT'd saloon but £1700 buys you a really nice saloon that should only need basic upkeep if garaged. You really need £3500 for a half decent Traveller, Conv or Van. 2dr saloons are getting rarer as more are turned into convertibles so 4drs are actually easy to find.
To answer your question - I would Google for local clubs or search for buyers guides, there is even one on the MMOC or here is Practicle Classics (although even this magazine gets slated on this forum) - it's still a good read though.

I am looking at a car for the lady tomorrow.
As I live in Sussex, she was contacted direct by pm before any other posts were added to this discussion, and arrangements made regarding viewing two possible cars.
She is also spending a lot of time reading the excellent advice postings on here, in most cases written by people well versed in what to look for when buying a Minor.

thank you all for your replies and lovely pics of your Moggies
I would just like to say a very special thank you to MMOC member: busguy, who I do not know personally, who responded to my wanted ads on here for help in looking over a potential Morris minor purchase .
Busguy went out of his way to travel up to see this moggie who is named 'Hettie' and thouroughly looked her over and test drove her on my behalf, he gave such amazing advice to me and I am now the proud owner of 'Hettie' a 1964 four door Almond Green Morris Minor 1000.
Aside from being new to MMOC and Morris Minors, and the proud owner of 'Hettie' I must say that busguys generosity in helping me , a perfect stranger has touched my heart and made my new year!
Thank you so much Busguy-wow thank you !
And A Very Happy New year to everybody

thank you busguy
