Could someone tell me what is the best lubricant to use on rubber bushes when fitting to front suspension.

Nothing normally for rubber -although you could put a wipe of red rubber grease as sold for brake cylinders. Much better to fit polyurethane bushes...with white grease..

And you can even fit grease nipples if you want.
Attached is a photo of a grease nipple fitted to the front suspension eye bolt on my Minor so as to lubricate the poly bushes.
You can fit a grease nipple to the top swivel as well to lubricate the top pin poly bushes.[frame]

Hi Phil,
What size of grease nipple are you using? What drill/thread size?
Thanks

Using 1/4" x 28 tpi UNF grease nipple.
Tapping drill required is 5.5mm or 0.2165"

Hellerman Oil can be used for assembly of rubber/poly/silicone components. It acts as a lubricant but then dries to a powder over time so doesn't attract dirt and dust as grease etc would. Washing up liquid is the other option which also dries but contains salt. Depends how much of a perfectionist you are I guess!

I have always lubricated the suspension bushes on my Minor.
Used red grease when using the original BMC rubber bushes and a general purpose grease when using poly bush type bushes and it has never done either types of bush or the pins any harm.

The KYJ is a a genuine suggestion - just in case anyone got the wrong idea from above comment ? Why would it be 'smart' ??

KYJ would be an expensive option, uncharacteristic for you
