It's the plate on the door that does not carry the locking mechanism, and agsinst which the locking lever (for want of a better word) latches. The pin like bit goes towards the bottom and stops you turning the lever too far. I'm sure thta someone will be along with a picture in a moment.

Thanks for that Chris thought it might be one of them.
Has the post got lost again?
I attach a scan of the latest DVLA bul****t letter. They have lost all records of the car.Try an online DVLA search.Same thing happens when you call them.Because they have lost it,it has NEVER been in the UK until I bought it and started asking stupid questions on the lines of "please can you send me a registration document to replace the mislaid one".So following on logically from that, because I have now brought it into the country, after their check with HMRC who also have no record of it,import duty has not been paid on it!!!!!So I now have to go throught the process of registering this new import, paying duty, getting an MOT,writing more cheques etc etc etc.STUFF THAT!
Thanks for the offer though ;-).[frame]Image[/frame]

Think we'll have to start at Leeds Record Office for this - anyone on here available to
visit Leeds RO or PRO to help Mick out?

Dealership would have had to pay import tax upon arrival to the UK. Above letter is total "Sherman" -
excuse my French.

Through both owners clubs I got lists of the Leeds and areas Volvo Dealers in the early 70s.They no longer exist.I thought the local DVLA offices got closed down?I Googled for them and any results ended up at the DVLA 0300 phone number. You'll laugh,I called that 01765 number you gave me as they were helpful to a degree initially.I asked her if she would translate that paragraph in the puic if I read it out to her,she....................couldn't!!!!!Didn't understand a word of it.
