today I was coming back from dropping Charlotte off @ the bus stop, engine warm when i came to a sudden halt.
@ first i thought it was petrol problem, looked @ fuel pump tested flow all good then dived into new carb, petrol in it and no blockages. Took spark plug out and no spark, as have fairly new Accuspark electronic distributor in thought ok coil failed, stuck another on and bingo off I went! my friend has a theory on these that if the ohms falls below 1.4 then the spark is too weak for these electronic units. Has anyone else had this problem?

Can you test the coil and report the ohms ? It should be around 3.2 ohms. And was it an 'old coil' - because some 'new' coils seem to be of dubious quality. And of course if it was originally designed for use with a ballast system - then it's only a matter of time..... But do check the coil connections too - they can certainly fail and simply disturbing them when changing the coil can appear to 'fix' the problem - for a while.....
