[frame][/frame]Hi all. I've changed many a clutch. As you can see,this one is stuck to the flywheel. Well, the engine and box have been motion less for thirty years,so , that's what I expected. This is the engine out of SLM 454,recovered from Aviemore, in the Scottish Highlands,a couple of years back. I'm preparing the engine and box for a test run. Amazingly,the engine wasn't seized. I have no experience of pressure plates,and want to make sure,before I put everything back together,that the pressure plate is ok. What should I look for ? Regards,Ed.

That one is knackered, I'll bet half the lining sticks to the flywheel when you prise it off

Put a block of wood on the edge and give it a whack. No good
if the plate is stuck to the flywheel. How much lining is left?

I like the plastic "brass effect" tap btw

Thank you kindly all. Good job I have another 803 flywheel then. Not tried to prise it off yet. Will do with caution,possibly asbestos lining ? Possibly, less than one to two MM of lining left. More pics tomorrow !

Serious business B&Q (Block & Quayle - founded 1969) round here. My local in Portswood, Southampton which is next to the site of the original Block & Quayle store and opposite Machine Mart is about to close. Much angst locally

[frame][/frame]Clutch came off very easily,just a little nudge. Quite a lot left on it as well,so,it's going back in.

[frame][/frame]Seems little wrong with the pressure plate.
As the engine and box, will be doing nothing other than shunting another van around,it's going back together. I can see little in the Manuel,regarding servicing the pressure plate,other than strip down and rebuild. The release levers are working fine,and the thrust bearing on the gearbox release fork has plenty on it.

Don't show it to you know who, he'll advise you to scrap it - HATES ex-GPO/PO Minor vans!

Clean the rust offn the flywheel and pressure plate before you reassemble. Wire wheel works good for that.
Also, lightly clean the faces of the clutch disc.

Where is you know who BTW?

Think I saw him in" I'm a celebrity get me out of here" he got that wrong as well.
