I don't know where to put something..

I have/had a very rusty original convertible,, with what i assumed are the dreaded cover sills put on underneath, under the outer sill covers there were the remains of a boxing plate etc,, was a very sad state of things. all loose panels pulled off and whole thing sent to shot blasters

3 months later new metal in:-

2 half floors
inner/outer sill
boxing plates
sill finishers
boot floor
engine floor
cross member complete
chassis legs both sides
rear inner quarters
rear chassis legs
wings doors etc,,etc

totally rust free solid shell,,

but,, where do the sill reinforcers i hear people talk about go,they look like the side wall of the floors i have put in?, i have replaced all old metal in the sill areas, i have not found even the remains of any odd or extra panels tucked inside or up cavities anywhere, i have what i can only describe as a continuous solid box section that runs from the very back of the boot floor snakes around the front of the rear wheel arch and emerges at he door where the boxing panel forms the outer wall of it..

am i making any sense?

any help/views/opinions welcome

If yours is not a genuine convertible (ie a cut down saloon) in may never have had them fitted?

Does the car have a chassis/body number - latter most accurate?

Sorry yes it's a genuine car, heritage cert etc. MAT....... Number as well etc

Body number on wee plate on firewall - way above fuel pump.

If you take the "inner sill" - the right angled section inside the car and covered with carpet. The extra strengthener used in the production of an original convertible (and traveller) was attached to the INSIDE of that panel so that it is largely invisible and impossible to add later.
On a Converted saloon an additional strengthener is added to the OUTSIDE of the inner sill - that is to say it is fitted over the top, inside the car, and then carpet fitted over it.
If your car has had the inner sill replaced without the original type of strengthener fitted within, I would suggest that fitting the type used for the later conversions is probably your best option now?
