Price of trafficators

Post by kennatt »

Decided to refurbish a pair of trafficators which I took off the ser11 many years ago, with a view to refitting. A visit to Tom Roys to buy new arms and lenses produced a bit of a shock. I was reliably informed that a pair of good condition working trafficators are selling for about £100 :o :o ,and that duff ones that they get are in high demand and they sell them on to a company that refurbs. This comp sells for £80 to £100 EACH :o :o .

Can't believe it ,are they that hard to come by nowadays, May be tempted to sell mine on instead of refitting, because the only reason I took them off the Four door splitty was to facilitate fitting seat belts on the door pillar ,which would have to be relocated somewhere ..Hmmm :-?

Just google "Lucas trafficator" or "Morris Minor trafficator" or look on ebay. Either will show you what they sell for.
The reproduction orange lenses commonly available are pretty inferior to the original Lucas branded ones which fetch a premium price as a result. The newest cars to have these fitted will be well over 50 years old so numbers will be reduced and don't forget that many more expensive cars than Morris Minors had the same ones fitted which has a bearing on values today.
Rolls Royce/Bentley, Aston Martin/Lagonda, MG, Riley just about every British car of the early 1950s used the exact same part so it isn't altogether suprising I suppose.
