Wiring loom

Post by dickbiker »

Hi folks

I am instaling a new wiring loom into a much modified minor, does the loom run under the car are can you run it through the passenger compartment?

Also does anyone know where I can get a top hinge for the nearside quarter light or are they like hens teeth? Many thanks.

The original loom would have been under the car from the engine bay backwards. You will see the clips on the underside of the car, same size / set up as the fuel line.If using the original route, it's worth putting shrink wrap tubing over the metal clips before pushing the clips up to hold the loom.I persuaded my mate to use plastic spiral binding on the" exposed to the elements " section under the car on his restoration that we were doing.Easy to put over the loom, robust, protects the loom from road debris, looks neat and tidy.

If it's Plan B i.e inside then the usual " notes " ...clips to hold the loom in situ, e.g sticky back cable mounts, if you don't won't to drill more holes in the floor pan.Grommets in any holes you have to drill.Avoid any route that will pinch / chafe
the wiring.Gaffa tape works wonders in out of sight places that can't be seen.Turn the last couple of centimetres back on itself
so you have a tab / something to get hold of...should you ever have to move/ add to the loom in the future.
