Hello, hope you don't mind me saying hi, at some point this week I will be the proud owner of my first car, a lovely Traveller, she needs a lot of work but my husband is very willing and happy to do it.

Turning 30 next year and Morris Minors have always been my favourite; Dad had both a Traveller and a saloon when I was little, so they have been both my first childhood car and soon will be my first owned car - family car and van are both in my husband's name; Mabel will be registered in my name, and be totally MINE!

Look forward to getting to know everyone; no doubt husband may well post from time to time with technical questions.

So far I don't know a great deal about Mabel other than her being black and of 1967 vintage....I'm not allowed to meet her until she arrives at her new home.

Hello, sounds a nice car. I have only been a club member since September 2013 and the forum has been AMAZINGLY helpful to me with brilliant responses from fellow members. Enjoy your motoring in the Traveller.

Think it'll be a while before we are motoring! Tho apparently she is in "off road" drive-able condition; the man who currently has her drives her around his farm every once in a while. Apparently her back end is not pretty at the moment, lots of eyes hanging out, holes and rot.

We are in Essex reasonably close to where the Essex meetings are held in Halstead, so we are hoping to attend those and get to know fellow owners. Looking round this site and getting to know Morris's again has been so strange - lots of flashbacks from early childhood coming back, a Minor was probably one of the first cars I ever travelled in. Can remember the smell and the feel of the seats, the handles, the 'M' on the steering wheel; so many little details are coming back. I have photos of a 4yr old me 'helping' Daddy to fix either Gordon or Henry (named after Thomas the Tank characters!)...going to be strange to start my own restoration album, this time with my 7yr old son as the helper.

Welcome, you obviously have exquisite taste  There is an Essex meeting tomorrow (11th). Unfortunately we won't be there, but should be a few others. The Essex AGM will be at Danbury on Sunday 23, 14:00. It's not dull, always a chance to discuss events for next year and sample cake; hope to see you there. Assuming that you can get the car ready in time, don't forget to book in for next year's National Rally - a good holiday up near Scarborough.

Hi all.
This post has prompted me to put mine up too. Joined club a couple of months ago, and have been lurking regularly picking up advice, attending branch meetings and returning to the Minor owning clan after about 40 odd years absence.
Bought "Maggie" a 2door '68 from a member on here (chesney) after spending a fair amount of time and loot searching for a decent van--to no avail sadly--as they were all overpriced and needed structural repairs, which at the moment is not what I am needing.
Very immpressed with this club, as there seems to be a good mix of "traditionalists" (which I applaud) and "modernisers" such as myself.I come from a family that has a long working history with the marque, Father joined MG Abingdon at age 25 and spent whole working life within the BMC/Austin Morris/BL corporation, ending at 733 building Cowley with boring office job.
I have just bought (for a song) an '81 Ital 1.3 hls  ) running wreck which I shall be asking for guidance for upgrading
swaps from you guys in the coming months, and yes, I've read the stuff about this subject, both positive and otherwise on here and elswhere, but am determined to bring Maggie into the 20th or even 21st century whilst retaining generic parts.
