Checking it out recently it appears that on all sides around 8 million horsed were killed in ww1---nearly 10 times the number of poppies now at the Tower of London! I'm Hoping that one of the charities that are going to benefit from the proceeds of their sale is animal welfare orientated. 8 million, can you imagine that ?

I would just like to say thank you to 1098 for posting this topic, due to it I decided to search for information and found one website (think it was ancestory.co.uk, but could be wrong) was offering free access to WW1 military records until the 13th of November and so I was able to discover some really intresting information about my Great Great Grandfather.
