I have fitted new front chassis legs to my car, and a new front cross member. I think the crossmember is ever so slightly askew (2*), but I think the chassis rails replacement parts are fine. To check this I did as pictured, measuring the angle of the chassis rails left to right on both the original chassis rails and the standard. Both were the same angle. Is this a good way of doing it? Bearing in mind I measured the left to right of the replaced/front part from across the LH and RH front stabiliser mounts, as shown.[frame][/frame][frame][/frame]

2" sounds rather more than 'slightly' askew !! Put a snug fitting pipe/bar through the eye bolt hole in one leg - does it meet the hole in the other leg ?

To make sure they are all in the same plane get the car level across the rear spring hangers then check the front rails are also level. To make sure they are in the right place fore aft I used the centre crossmember as a reference and made sure all the measurements were equal from this, for squareness take diagonals and make sure they match. The only other potential problem is the front rails droop or rise, I did one side at a time leaving parts of the surrounding panels and the other rail in place as a referrance to avoid this.

Thanks for the help chaps. I measured the angles across the rear spring hangers, the original chassis legs and the repaired front chassis legs, and all were pretty much exactly the same/level, its only the front crossmember which is slightly tilted; this is what drew my eye to it all in the first place. I completely rebuild the front end panels all last Christmas, but since the body is now on its side to repair the underside, the different perspective made me notice it. But it seems to all check out OK
