Hi all,

I just wanted to say hello, we have just purchased our first Minor 1000. I or should i say, we will most probably be asking alot of questions over the next few months as this will be the first car we will have restored.

Thats an old Northern Ireland registration number from about 1960- 61. I have a black 2 door that is registered 8786 CZ although its off the road at the moment awaiting a re spray. Heres a link to my restoration thread which Im ashamhed to say other than starting it a couple of times has had nothing more done since the last post and I went and bought another one again.......

Well she arrived on Saturday, had a bit more of a proper look over her.
Lots to do!! But looking forward to getting stuck in with the strip down, i will post pics as we go along.

Hi all been a while since last on here had a very busy year with my little boy.
But progress has been made on my little car mainly stripping away back to a rolling shell.

Basically after some advice on how far to go with replacing parts and if it's viable. It's not about the money or time as I will be doing most of the work myself, more of a case of if its possible.

Looks like I'm going to have to replace pretty much the whole underneath as it will need new crossmember new sills floor pan inner wings chassis legs the lot basically,

Haha that's what I said last Christmas! Maybe a rolling chassis by next year!

If you have the time there is no reason why you shouldn't replace or repair all the items you have listed. Repair sections are available for all although you will need to decide which parts to repair and which to replace, assuming you do your own welding. As you have it stripped to a bare shell it will be a lot nicer to work on if you turn it on its side, crawling underneath and welding upwards can be very unpleasant!

Thank you for the response. Upside down welding is not fun!

Hi thank you. That is my plan hopefully starting in the next month or so weather permitting!

Took the cover plate off and discovered this! Lots of welding to do I think.

To be honest I wasn't surprised at what I found. It's going to be a full nut and bolt restoration, the strip down is complete. Now to brush up on my welding and start the renewal of rusty bits!
