Can anyone tell me the different sizes of brake pipe fittings/ends used on a 1958 traveller.I believe the ones that connect to the brass union and brake light switch are different to the rest on the car.I should have bought a made up set instead of buying s roll of brake piping.Thankyou in anticipation.

Rear axle and mastercylinder are 3/8" BSF. The front brakes are 3/8" UNF - the T at the brake light switch could be either - depending if it has been replaced at some point, but I 'think' was BSF originally. None should be M10 X 1 - although if you have an aftermarket servo - it could be - so check carefully. Marina discs will be M10 X 1 if you have them....

Thankyou for that information,I will write them down and get replacements.Would I have been better getting a made up set or maybe if anything has an after market fitting then the made up set wouldn't fit.
Also I was reading one of your replies to someone who was going to fit a remote reservoir under the bonnet.I can't find the post so could you tell me what you said should be done with the master cylinder etc. Thanks again,Roger

Nothing wrong with making your own pipes - just be sure to put the correct 'ends' on the pipes, and hopefully you are using kunifer pipe... I have never fitted a remote reservoir - no need ! It's only perhaps necessary if using disc brakes.

For clarification, all fittings are 3/8-20, BSF except the front brake cylinders and male end of the hoses, which are 3/8 UNF, including bleeders. There is a caution about brake hoses. The fronts and rears are the same length, but the old Morris hose remained in use for awhile for the rear axle. 1958 is very close to the transition. Meaning the brass fitting on the rear axle may be all BSF if it's an early one or have UNF threads for the hose and BSF for the hard line fittings. The banjo bolts are also 3/8 BSF. Of course over the years anything may have changed on your car, so you must confirm what you have at each point.
BSP sounds like British Standard Pipe and the only pipe threads in the braking system is the brake light switch.
