FITTING U BOLTS DIAGRAM

Post by LUR759H »

Hi Guys,

Ive been off line for a month or two recovering, well now I'm back working on the car and need your help and advice on replacing the U bolts, pads and plates connecting the rear axle to the springs, has anyone got a step by step diagram as to how I do the replacement? if so can you post it...

Thank you

What a strange web-site! They don't have any of the parts.... Better using MOSS - at least they have most of the parts.. and I suggest fit new bump stops while you are in there. http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewP ... exID=17092

And the exploded diagrams explain that perfectly!! But I do wonder why these parts are being targeted to be replaced.....unusual to do so without also renewing the much more difficult spring mounts at each end of the springs!!

Get well soon, Alan!

Surely there's a member nearby to give Alan some assistance?

Best wishes indeed! Sounds nasty... fixing cars should be the very least of your concerns till you are passed A1 by the docs.

And from me, too. I hope the stents were from one of the better parts suppliers.......

Good idea to mention Alan's difficulties in "Minor Matters", as not
all members are on this site.

Providing these members are NOT 19yr old blondes!

Hi Guys,

Just to let you know Im doing well the stents seem to be working and to be fare to Sunderland Royal Hospital they have done a good job and I have been very impressed with the procedure, I could almost feel an instant change in my blood flow and have felt much better since the process. The internal bleeds are still been investigated and im back in tomorrow afternoon for more checks. All of this and another baby boy due in a few weeks has meant little progress on my car, today i drill wire-brushed and hamerighted half the rear axle and one spring, if i feel up to it ill put the U bolts on one side tomorrow morning before going over to the hospital, this will depend on the weather as i still havent been able to move the car into my new large tent like garage....

One thing for certain is ill get this car done even if im too unwell to use it, nothing is going to stop me getting the satisfaction and enjoyment of seeing my old car back on the road.

You all know my English is poor however I hope you understand that I appreciate all those who have sent get well messages and those who have expressed care, it means a lot when you are feeling really unwell,. Thank you...

Best of luck and a speedy recovery. Take it easy on the car, use it as physiotherapy a little bit at a time - slowly slowly.

Indeed! Don't over do it - it's only an old car... And in this weather - working outdoors is not exactly pleasant... Get fit and well before you do anything too strenuous.

Hi guys - Im NOT working on my car but have a question for you that Ive been wondering while in bed, the floor in my car has been almost completely replaced by the previous owner and a few bits of welding by myself, all of the welds are perfect on the inside however the underside of the car has the odd unwelded section and sharp edge do i need to weld these edges or can I jut cover them in waxoyl, what will the MOT man think - Mind you Im far from it ever been MOTed but just wondering??

Alan

PS the internal bleeds seem to be from my lungs another worry!!!
