earliest non splitscreen traveller?

Post by travelling56 »

Hi. Can you help?
I have just purchased a 1956 Morris Traveller without the splitscreen, was wondering what is the oldest non splitscreen in existences?

Many thanks :)

Body number will reveal how old it is.
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

According to 'Original Morris Minor' by MMOC club secretary Ray Newell (and I guess this info comes from the Heritage records at Gaydon, the 1000 was introduced in October 1956 and started at car no 448801. Have a look at the metal plate under the bonnet. It's on the bulkhead top left. It should read F(Morris Minor) L (Traveller) then depending upon the colour the letter should be between A and U. Check here for full details of the original colour http://potteries.mmoc.org.uk/Identify.htm (you will need to scroll down until you get to the vehicle ID bit. Do let us know what you find out. '56 model 1000's are quite rare so best of luck with your Traveller :-) post some pics too if you can :-)
