Hi All

I'm after some help if anyone can. I'm looking to buy a Morris Minor 1000 as a surprise 70th birthday present for my father as he has always loved them. Only problem is I have absolutely no idea where to begin. Is there a certain year I should be looking for? A certain model? I've seen ones with white wall tyres (that look pretty cool tbh) and ones with just black. What should I be looking to pay? My old man is pretty handy and has always loved working on cars but I feel that if I buy him a "project car" it's like I'm saying here is half a present. Sorry for all the questions but as I say, I’m completely new to Morris. Thank you in advance for any advice you can give me.

Hello Nick and welcome along, very thoughtful present if I may say 8) . It sounds like you know what you like in a Minor but how about a few sneaky questions to your Dad about what he really likes, after all it's for him  Does he like saloons, travellers, tourers, vans then you can decide what's best. Best guide him towards saloons - they tend to be a bit cheaper :D

( Thanks Louise for shifting the post )
Hi Nick welcome.
To add to Panky's questions ... " how far " do dad's skills extend...panel beating , welding, paint spraying, etc.?
i.e is he going to thank you for a" full on basket case restoration " or would he get more pleasure from "tinkering" , to keep the car mobile ? I think the answers will help narrow down the choice / state of the vehicle..plus the depth of your wallet of course !
Bob
