Found in a box of assorted Minor spares - Car Number: tag plate stamped with the letters/numbers ARR251550.
Above the number is the request - PLEASE QUOTE CAR No.
The numbers appear to have been machine stamped but the letters seem to have been hand stamped as they are out of alignment and the Rs are slightly bigger than the A.
Interested to know what car it could have come from.
Any information greatly received.
Phil

Pre-War Austin?

Messed about with 1930s Minor chassis numbers, seem to
remember old Austin's with no break A prefixes?

Might find something on the internet, I had a quick glance
but couldn't find owt!

Sorry

I936 Austin 7
Chassis number 251550, CAR number ARR251550

This chassis is not shown as 'alive' on the Austin 7 register listing, but other close numbers are, so 1936 built.

Many thanks for the information and jogging my memory.
The number tag must have come from the remains of a Austin 7 which I dug out of a out of a pile of rubbish and ash many years ago in Willersey in Gloucestershire for spares.
Between then and now I have moved house several times and the number tag must have been put in the box of Morris spares for safe keeping prior to one of the moves.
The Austin 7 had an interesting history and was previously owned by a member of a female travelling theatre group who travelled around the UK in the 1930s.
I met the lady who owned the car when digging out the remains of the Austin 7 and who was one of the performing group and she was very interesting to talk to.
Unfortunately I have to report that the Austin has been well and truly dead for many years now.
If you have access to the Austin 7 Register perhaps you could inform them of the sad occurrence.
