Hi,
Just found this picture whilst looking at images of the 1960's online and wondered if anyone recognized it or the car?
Best wishes,
Mike.

As far I can see from current records the car doesn't now exist, at least with that registration number.
All the possible registrations, given that one letter is not visible, are from Kent, issued in 1961, except one. PKX was issued in Buckinghamshire in 1960. I checked out all the eleven reverse registration possibilities and nothing shows.

So best I can do to help is suggest that photo was likely in rural Kent, or possibly rural Buckinghamshire. As the car doesn't look too old, or on a long trip, coupled with the period dress/infrastructure in the photo, I would date it was taken approx 1961-3.

Can our Kent/Buckinghamshire members add to that?

I like the Telegraph Pole with all the Insulator pots mounted on "J" bolts, in the background - this would have been a telephone Pole-to-Pole route and normally used where local councils didn't like cables being dug underground.
I note the car has the early Series III "clap hands" wiper arrangement, so the car must be 1963 or earlier. Photo could have been taken to show off the "new" purchase, out on a Sunday drive?
The use of colour film would also show someone a bit more affluent as this was more expensive to purchase and process.

George.

Is it in the UK? Could it be Australia?

I was looking at images of Britain in the 1960's, plus it is a UK registration.
Hopefully someone will see the shot and recognize it's location, would be interesting to see a picture of the site today, tough if it is in Kent it's probably covered in a housing estate........ :(
Best wishes,
Mike.
