Fan Belt Adjustment

Hello,

I have fitted a new fan belt today and I did as it said in the manual by ensuring that there was thereabouts an inch of play in the longest section of belt. I have noticed a quiet humming/ whirring noise when idling. Could it be that the belt is too tight? or not tight enough? I would hate to knacker the bearings! All help would be greatly appreciated!

1" is too slack! Tighten it slightly... But not 'drum' tight. New belts always stretch out slightly - so keep an eye on it.
