What is the original location for the chassis numbers for the MM?
Is this for every production area the same, or are the CKD's different?

On the o/s/f bulkhead/firewall to 10/65?
On the o/s floorpan from 10/65?

The Chassis plate (SMM to mid 52) should be on the engine compartment bulkhead right hand side below the manufacturer's guarantee plate. I am not aware of any difference on the CKD except the weld line. There should be a photo in "Original Morris Minor"

Found it in "the original Morris Minor" .
The reason I ask, is I heard the location from the stamped number in the body could be different with a CKD.
The newer CKD has a welding plate, and the number also at this position, but how to recognize the MM as CKD or not?

The CKD should be recognisable from the weld line and also if it comes from a country with an assembly plant, eg Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands then there is a good chance that it is a CKD. I also expect that the chassis numbers were issued in batches for CKD and LHD so it should be possible to look up the records at Gaydon, something for me to do sometime. The Heritage Certificate should record if the car was a CKD. There are a few Travellers in Australia and New Zealand but these were personal imports not CKDs

Where to find the weld line?
My car is a Belgium one, and I only know, J.J. Molenaar (my old boss) produced also for Belgium.
Yesterday, I saw a CKD traveler, but this one has an extra spot welded strip to recognize.
Should this strip also be there in the MM, or only in the later models?
I could not recognize a weld line, but should this line be visible on the backside?[frame]

Ok, I have to remove the rust, but wait with this till I am complete ready for painting the whole car

Do you know when the stamped chassis number first appeared on the
bulkhead - likewise for the NMP plate moving to the n/s/f of the engine
bay floor?

The stamped chassis number has always been there from the first car and the NMP plate moved with the introduction of the modified crossmember to suit the A-series engine. Some sidevalve cars had the modified crossmember so it was pre A series somewhen!

Chassis stamp behind o/s/f shock absorber and change of position for the NMP
plate occured upon intro of the "A" series engine?
Need to work out body codes for the switch.
