Mock MOT done

Post by poplars »

On the good advice of forum member I took my new (to me) 56 morris to have a Mock MOT to see if it was a death trap.

And these were the issues:-

Front wiper blade smeary
Front to rear brakepipe chaffing
Under bonnet wiring insecure
Front brakes binding sightly

So all in all a huge success in my book. Wiper blades are what they are. He bend the brake pipe a tad to stop the chaffing. Other two issues can be dealt with.

A result in my book!!

I think I should regard as a success? Not sure what others think?? I know the doors need new panels - and given my current welding skills( see my other post) may wait a while or get someone better to do them. When you buy a car and don't have a mechanical background like myself you do sometimes worry that even with the best of efforts you could have boughs a nightmare!

I hope the brake pipe wasn't too bad - I guess he would have said if it was. As a preventative measure you could put some fuel pipe around it or even cable ties to stop it rubbing in the future.

Loose wiring sounds more an observation than a potential mot failure.
Glad to be back!

He said he'd sorted that - so hopefully he has.

Pleased to hear nothing wrong structurally - so thats the main thing. Can be driven safely while I try to make improvements etc.
