Update on head gasket...

New gasket has been installed & the old girl is running beautifully However the not so good news is that the block is scored, so we are taking things steady pending an engine out job for the winter Baaah humbug!

Hmm - you say it's an 'update' - but did we have a previous on this ? That has been run for quite some time to get to that state! No wonder the block (and almost certainly - head) are scoured.... It's important to stop right away when a head gasket blows..... Meantime - torque it down again after the first heat cycle - to 44 ft lbf... and cross your fingers...

Yes there is a previous thread, and I'm sure you commented

It was run for about 2 miles to get home after cylinders 3 & 4 conked out (mobile network was not playing so I couldn't summon help and it was (insert illegal word) it down with rain at the time). I promised an update to the people who responded to my last thread - if this is a cautionary tale on what not to do when a head gasket blows then so be it!
