Ignition Switch

Some Nurk attempted to steal the landrover by breaking up the ignition lock. Of course I know why they couldn't take it away, however part of wishes they had as it had no master cylinder in at the time.

As I'm not going to fit another Landrover keyswitch (the security of the car nothing to do with the the keyswitch anyway) I was thinking I might as well fit a moggie one with a relay ... My evil little mind then wondered if I could modify a keyswitch to take mirium's key?

Anyone know how to do this ? Anyone got a spare keyswitch with no key ?

Hello JM,
Wilmot Breeden locks (most of that era's ignition\door locks are WB) are easily modified, albeit at the expense of the (minimal) security.
Remove the barrel from the ignition switch (Knock out a small pin at the inboard end), put in the key you want to use then file all the protruding latches down to the barrel level. Replace the barrel and check the key works, if not you need to file a bit more.
