Refitting rear hubs

Hi,
Need some advice tips etc, I have stripped my rear hubs down replaced oil seal and bearings, but I am struggling to get them back in fully
. All that has happened when I have pushed them is it has pushed the bearing out of the hub by a few mills.
When I removed them I used a puller, can I get a pusher to reverse this, ir does anyone have an idea which won't threaten the thread?

Are they correct bearings? Why did you change them anyway? The bearings do protrude from the hub - by the thickness of the paper gasket - ~ 4 thou - not 'a few mills ' (??) I also don't understand why a puller was necessary - any hubs I have worked on just pulled off by hand = perhaps a wee 'start' given by a tyre lever on the brake cylinder. Can we see a picture of what's going on??

I have 4 rear hubs and on 4 all of them the bearing stood proud of the face by 0.011 - 0.012". With a gasket of 0.010" thickness, the correct clearance, as shown in the workshop manual, was achieved. I had to make my own gaskets as the supplied ones were too thick at 0.035".

hi mine did this and when i tightened the nut it pulled the bearing on to the axle , pm sent

To reassemble, you need to press the inner race of the bearing on to the axle, not press the hub itself. If the inner race is a bit tight on the axle, pressing the hub can start easing the bearing out of the hub, as you have found.
As above, tightening the hub nut will pull the bearing on to the hub, but only do this if there are enough threads showing on the axle shaft for a full nut engagement.

35 thou gaskets are VERY wrong - this has been discussed before. They are only thin paper ~ 4 thou.

The 35 thou gaskets were supplied from a big UK supplier. You may well have the same supplied to you.
As a rough guide to thickness, what is needed is about twice the thickness of printer paper, what was supplied to me was more "cornflake packet cardboard" thickness.

And the thick gaskets will lead to end float. Which in turn will wear the hub......
