Interior Trim Panels

A question regarding the front scuttle/kick panels, the panels that go between the front doors and front wheel arches, the areas where the front parcel shelf mounts to each side.

Does anyone know how these trim panels were originally secured in place ? I've looked at lots of pictures of different cars and some have screws holding them, going vertically next to the door seal where others don't.
I have noticed on my car that there are two holes each side that look identical to the holes in the doors to take the door card clips, so would they have used those clips ?

The brand new ones come with an extra flap of vinyl that tucks behind the door seal and is trimmed down once the door seal clips are fitted.
So I'm hoping that someone's removed an original kick trim and will know how they're meant to be fitted.
Thank you :D

Oh yes, sorry forgot to ask
If anyone knows what the thread size is of the bolts that hold each end of the front parcel shelf into it's captive nuts, please let me know. If you've got a couple of original bolts for these, please PM me, thanks :D
