Searching through some parts manuals, I am unable to find any reference to the piece of hardboard and clips that sit at the front of a late van headlining. I have these parts but would like to see a printed picture, can anyone help please?

Hi, thanks for reply, I have akd 3575 and have seen those items but they are nothing like the bits I have, I think the manual is showing earlier fitments.

28,29 & 30 are the same as on my van, or at least the same as I have. I have two, one is hardboard and one is plywood, both have the metal wedge type clips riveted to them. I haven't got as far as fitting headlining yet. I do have the aluminium bars (too many I think) and also the John Lennon spectacles clips along with a few feet of very tatty & shredded cloth with some rusty shark fishing type wire. I don't have a complete plywood arch thingimy that goes across the top flanged part where cab and load bay join. I am told though that the knock on door draught excluder taps over the lining onto the flange to finish it off quite well, so might try that.... eventually

Interesting, I'll try to post a picture of my set up, as there appears to be subtle differences, I have the steel bar and end inserts for the wire, also some wire which came with the headlining. The headlining that was removed from my pickup had hardboard strips sewn down each side, these tucked into the internal cab 'gutter', stretched the lining tight and wedged it there, no wire was used. It seems that various methods and devices were used over time. Yes, some door seal is ideal for tidying the rear edge up.

What year is your PU Les?

This last week or so I read somewhere that early lcv's had various methods of supporting the headlining, using hardboar/timber strips before the tension wire was used. If I re-stumble accross it I'll let you have a copy or a link.

The hardboard pieces are stitched to the fabric, the front piece is stapled. the small timber blocks are for the interior lamp screws. The metal clips hook into the front internal guttering. Pickup is 1970.

Is your LCV post 4/70 with an F chassis suffix?
