Run into a problem changing the eyebolt bushes

Just started this job, which should be like stealing sweets from a baby! However the lower trunion pivot pin won't budge. It looks parallel in all the diagrams I can find but its not moving so im wondering if any were tapered which would require extraction from one side only (the correct side)
Also, my suspension is still under torsional load when on the lower stop. Surely this cant be right? It needs a second jack to lift at all where I expected to be able to move it by hand.
Am I missing something?

You need to follow the instructions in the manual. It is essential to remove the load from the system before complete disassembly. With the car secure raised off the ground, support the rear half (cast piece) of the arm using as jack, remove the front (pressed) half - you need to remove the tie rod yoke, the thru bolt, and the nuts on the inner and outer fulcrum pins. Now disconnect the king pin from the rear half of the arm, and then lower the jack clear. Now you can work on the system without any load. The pins are parallel, but remember that the inner one has a cap secured to it so that it can be removed only by going rearwards (after dropping the torsion bar).

Remove the rebound stop.. Also the lower trunnion fulcrum pin slides out (either way) BEFORE you start to unscrew the lower trunnion - if that is also your intention to check the threads/fulcrum pin wear/bush wear etc etc.

Remove the rebound stop? Unusual for you to dismantle more than's needed Roy!

I just changed the LH king pin today on my Trav - and indeed I didn't touch the rebound stop.... but for a beginner - it will make life easier/less dangerous and it's not difficult to remove. the biggest part of the job was searching for the ball-pin splitter.... It's now safely in my 'special tools' box as it should have been in the first place.

Ah, A beginner.....and this morning, after realization has just set in, I certainly feel like one. I should qualify by explaining that im an engineer and a competent mechanic. Ive changed plenty of Head gaskets on K series in MGf and Tf as well as put clutches in BMW R series bikes. These are both very nasty jobs. Ive done all of the other stuff of course from bushes to engine swaps to full gearbox rebuilds.
I was therefore a little vexed when I found the swivel pin a non-mover. A schoolboy error would have been to jack up on the trunnion rather than the suspension arm as this would apply extra load on the pin and trap it firmly in place.
Guess what I did
Don't know what I was thinking, I expect the shame will live with me for a long time. Oh well, I've come clean. Take the P*** all you like
Thanks for all the help
Al

You'll have no problems then with all that experience. The Minor is a bit 'different' in many ways. You WILL need WHITWORTH ring keys and sockets...

Indeed sir, different and much fun.
I have Imperial gear as well as metric. I have dabbled in many a british classic previously
