Water ingress Morris Traveller

Hi,

I am currently renovating a 1971 Morris Traveller. I have just had it resprayed back to its original Bedouin Colour (or as close to as possible) and the body work is sound.

My next job is to replace the interior carpets. I have noticed that both the rear foot-wells are damp so water is getting in somewhere.

My question is what are the most common water ingress areas? My guess is the side windows.....

I have resealed the gear selector gaiter just in case it is coming up from the floor.

Side windows (check drain holes are clear) can come from anywhere along the channel and then seep along to the front where it drains to the floor.
Bottom of side panels - if sealer has failed, then water can get into the sills and then to the floor pan.
Roof join - runs down B-post
Windscreen - runs into the front and then backwards to the rear footwell

You need to resolve, otherwise you will probably find that the spring hangers rust out from inside.

Windscreen wiper rubber spindles perish and let water in.

As with any Traveller - keep it under cover (not 'a cover') - and don't use it in wet weather!

Ignore the doomsayers. Our Travellers are kept outside and used everyday, whatever the weather. They'll never be concours, but are quite happy in the rain.
