Wiper problem!

Post by Jameshill »

Hi I'm new to owning a minor and I'm really keen to get my hands dirty. I have a 1957 minor and I have a wiper problem!

The wipers work but only when you hold them away from the windscreen! Otherwise you turn them on and they give up the ghost half way up! Now does this mean a new wiper motor or is there some tinkering I can try? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Welcome to the forum. It means the wheelboxes or the drive cable or the gearbox in the wiper motor assembly (or all three) are needing lubricated........

I'm sorry not to be able to track it down better - I would start by dribbling 3in1 oil down the shafts of the wheelboxes - this can work wonders!

Do not use the wipers on a dry screen
