Fitting a passenger lock barrel to a 2-door

So I searched a while on the net to see if I could find any tips on how to go about changing the barrels on my 2-door ... sadly I didn't find much of use and have just spent the entire evening battling with a door lock!
As a result I figured it would be a good idea if I shared some of the things I discovered along the way
The first thing I'd like to share is about getting (I don't know it' proper name, so I'm calling it the lock switch) off so that you can get the lock out of the door ... it took me a while to figure out that there is this little pin on the underside of the lock that you need to push in so that you can get it out![frame]

Once you have that out, taking the lock off and apart is a pretty simple process ... just beware of the centreing spring when you pull the barrel out, it's under tension and pretty small ;)
The next thing I'd like to share, the thing that took me hours of faffing to work out, is how to get that flipping spring back on
First things first ... whatever you do, don't forget to drop the cam into the lock first ;)[frame]

[/frame]
Next, now this is the 'trick' that makes it fairly easy to get it all together, is to put the spring onto the barrel before you put it into the lock![frame]

[/frame]
Tamp it down so that it sits level[frame]

[/frame][frame]

[/frame]
Next, take one leg and line it up with the slot[frame]

[/frame]
And twist the barrel so that you get both legs down the slot for the locking mechanism[frame]

[/frame]
Slide it down until it sits into place ... do NOT be tempted to turn it much just yet ;)[frame]

[/frame]
Fiddle with the spring until it sits straight[frame]

[/frame][frame]

[/frame]
And then put the pin in[frame]

[/frame]
Now you should be safe to lubricate and play with the lock to be sure you got it back together right!

Really useful, thank you. You got much further than I did, I gave up at the trying to remove the handle from the door stage !
