1955 4 door splitscreen morris minor refitting rear spring hangers with new poly bushes and pins and hangers too far forward and spring end catching on body work. Front bushes fitted to springs and located correctly. Spring fitted as in the book with two retaining clamps forward of axle. Rear axle fitted and looking central in wheel arch and central on springs.
Cannot remember position of hangers when removed. Are springs handed, since did not note them left or right, but stripped and cleaned and fitted as in the book.

PHILIP JONES

A picture or two would help us understand the problem ! Springs are not handed. When you jack up the axle - the hangers should easily be in reach of the rear spring eye.

Doing complete rebuild of car so car body is supported on blocks and rear springs fitted with rear axle are hanging free and fixed both ends. No rear damper fitted yet, no propshaft fitted. In the book the rear hangers are tilting backwards towards the radius section of bodywork, mine are tilting forwards to front of car and touching bodywork via the eye of the spring.
Not very good with photos sorry.

PHILIP JONES.

You will need to raise the axle........

Raised the axle and hangers moved backwards as axle raised. Raised till body just lifting and hangers in perfect position and rear dampers and damper strut fitted.
Thank you for your help and knowledge and no doubt will be asking you more problems in the future.
