Drove my van to the Classic van and Pick up event at Gaydon Motor museum. 803cc engine was hard work, but, got me there. Despite the atrocious weather, there was a good turn out of Light commercial vehicles. A non, one marque event, the day was a huge success. Many Minor LCV's attended. This was the first time Gaydon has held a LCV only event. Due to the success of the day, they have already said they will be doing the same next year. I camped for two nights. The camping facilities are very good.
Electric showers, and toilets in a new brick building. pricey at £30 for two nights ? I'm not too sure after using the shower rooms, they were brill ! nothing like a shower. Within walking distance of the museum,a pub, the Malt Shovels, can be found on Trip advisor, great pub grub ! A full sit down meal, in the museum, set me back ten pounds, that's with a full pot of tea. The same on Sunday morning, after I had a good shower ! Entry fee. £7.00, which includes access to the museum. Within the museum,a great collection of cars, vans, engines from the the great days of the British motor industry. Tons of info on Alex Issigonniss, and Lord Nuffield. Great to see, the late Shelia Wakely's, ex GPO Telephone van on display. Shelia restored the van to full GPO spec, some years ago. Sadly, she passed away through illness, bequeathing her van to the museum. Well done Shelia.
A great rally season so far, Kelmarsh Hall etc, topped up by the Gaydon event. One you might want to consider for next year .

That van looks so cool, its the originality that makes it. To give this van a nice shiny paintwork would be criminal. Nice platina as the say in the VW world (except they would drop it to the weeds).

Top man ! Why make it just a shiny red van. Never failed an MOT,before it became exempt, cos it's rock solid.

Hi there. I was at the Gaydon show too, I was riding shotgun on the Commer fire engine, I did have a quick squint at your van as we scurried past to get a bacon butty in the nice warm, dry café inside the museum. I really enjoyed the show, despite the weather, and we are already planning to go again next year in force with some friends.
Did you spot this little beauty[frame]Image[/frame]

And this Traveller hearse

Maybe see you next time.

Yes,saw both of them. I'll be going again next year, sorry I missed you. Wish I could have missed Bertha though. Date already set for 2015 - 9th August. :D Just sent the museum a combined Sidelight & indicator lense for the late, but, great Shelia Wakely's van. Viewed her Minor van, (ex Telephone's) many years ago, when she bequeathed it to the Museum. The lense was missing then !

If I'll remember Shelia for anything, she could talk. Probably laughing her head off up there. Loved her.
