I know the Van rear diff is sometimes a different ratio than the Saloons-more so if GPO specification, but do the gearbox ratios differ in anyway. I ask as the present running 1098 Saloon does not seem to like doing much in 3rd gear (no real torque pull) and 4th seems to run out of top speed at about 45-50 MPH and engine seems stressed above that speed. From memory I got the box changed when it got noisy and swapped in the box from the van I had a the time, then fitted a spare box to the van (which I then sold)
Thanks

Re: Gearbox Ratios Query (1098 Van vs Saloon)
Gearboxes are the same. Diffs are different as you say. A 1098cc van has got a 4.55:1 diff , against a saloon runs a 4.22:1.
I've actually put a saloon diff in mine with a saloon Speedo too.
Cheers
