hi there to all
does my 1957 948cc car have a 3 speed box or 4 as the chap said it was a 3 when I bought it but it seems to be screaming in 3rd
and I don't want blow the gearbox
if it is a 3 is there a 4 speed box that will go straight in or is there any messing around

Re: gearbox
Hi,
It should be a four speed box as standard unless someone's been messing with it.....
Sounds more like you might have a knackered gearbox though and he may have been trying to pull the wool over your eyes by saying it was three speed.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Re: gearbox
948 will struggle with a five speed box.Daft question but have you actually tried to put it into 4th,straight down from 3rd
or are you not useing 1st ie starting in second down and left.
