Nan's Old Traveller

Something really lovely happened today, my sister emailed me a photo she found of my Nan with their traveller way back a long time ago.

My mother has memories of so many holidays in that car - with the mushrooms and mold it had too!

I make it a 63/64 model? 126 BAB.

Nan sadly passed away a few years ago, so finding this was lovely.[frame]Image[/frame]

Sadly, I think Grandad sold the plate to a fella who collected BABs - thirty years ago...

126 BAB is not on the DVLA enquiry register as a Morris. It is not shown on the congestion charge register as existing on any vehicle either. Doesn't look hopeful that car or number still exists.
Only hope is that the reg number is sitting on a retention certificate somewhere, as in that case the number wouldn't be showing on either register.

'Good old boring reg number info department'.

Maybe a sticky, perhaps merged into the one that already exists about DVLA stuff...

Les
859 GAB does not show as existing on a Morris on the DVLA site register. It doesn't show on the congestion charge listings either, on any make of vehicle.

You can always go on to a Cherished Number sales site and key in your number. If it is available for sale (i.e. on Retention), it should show up as still existing. My original Traveller number (90 BPH) is available, but at a price higher than I paid for the '56 Series II Traveller with its replacement '63 plate.

I've looked on "regtransfers.co.uk" and 126 BAB is not currently available.

Hi Alan
Your car is on DVLA and the info on their site is shown below. Shown as unlicensed since May. Should it be SORN? Where was it for its first three years?
Shown on the congestion charge site as a Green Morris Minor.

So - is EVERY car registered in the UK on the 'Congestion' Register - even though many many miles from London? Can you point me to the Congestion site please ? And indeed - if all this was 'stickyfied' it would be handy.

This is the congestion charge site address, if someone wants to put it on a 'sticky'. That's if it is not already there.

https://congestioncharging.tfl.gov.uk/b ... eVRM.faces

I believe their info is drawn from DVLA, so in theory all cars, trucks, buses, etc on UK roads is on this site.

Just input the reg number twice, and 'Hey Presto', there's your info!

Useful when you know the reg number and not the make of vehicle it is on!. If you want to know if the cherished reg you sold is on a vehicle, not a retention certificate, the vehicle will appear here.

On DVLA you have to have both reg number and vehicle manufacturer to gain access to info.

Cheers
John

hi John,

Mine spent the first three years on the isle of man not sure of much else except the reg plate that is on it is from co durham not far from me now, so im not even sure if its the first plate, i know the engine is not the first as its a goldshield... the engine number the dvla have is not right as it was changed at some point. dvla have been informed and when the car is back on the road I will notify them formally and have the v5 changed.

Any info on it would be helpful

Alan

Alan,
Yes - until you get it licensed (which will be NIL cost).
It means that DVLA do not have a current SORN (or licence) on this vehicle. When I bought my Traveller, the previous owner hadn't realised he was supposed to declare SORN each year. I just contacted DVLA and asked them how to declare SORN on a vehicle I had just purchased. Did it on-line and then, when it was ready to go back on the road, I just did an on-line relicensing. Regards, George.

Bidz, back to your original post - both your Nan and the car were very good lookers
Now tell me, whose hand is that reaching out to the driver's windscreen wiper - your Mum's? Yours? Sister's? Anyone?
I also noted the Mini off to the right-hand side of the photo - another family car?
All the best, George.
