Hi, Anyone got any good products/tips for removing Waxoil from my engine bay? Previous owner made a right old mess of it. :(

Waxoyl is white spirit based, so that would dissolve it, will be a messy job though. Problem with leaving it there is every time you lift the bonnet you get covered, and I daresay it's all over everything.

Gunk, brake cleaner and a stiff brush to work it in. Any de-greaser/solvent will soften it. Work in small areas at a time though and be prepared to get covered in black spots!

If you use your Minor daily, Waxoyl is NOT the thing to use - total waste
of time!!

ONLY 100% guarantee to stop rust is a mixture of Engine Oil, Grease &
Vaseline.

Thanks for the warning Chris, my pickup has been waxoyled for 15 years. I only hope it's not too late to scrape it all off in favour of your recipe! :D
