Front tyre size for easier steering

Hi all on the front off my morris minor I have wolfrace 13" slot wheels I have 165/13 on at mo but steering hard to turn I was wondering if I put different size tyres on would it make any different Neil

Doubt it - grease the kingpins and the steering rack........ :)

check correct tyre pressures

Jack it up off the ground and see if the steering is still heavy. That rules the tyres out and means it's trunnions or rack.

You can't really go narrower than 165, as I expect your slots are 5" or 5.5" wide.

Or have you wound on massive amounts of negative camber and castor angle? Also - if the wheels have too much offset (and/or fitted with spacers?) - the tyre rotation point on the ground will be too far outside the projected rotation line of the kingpin to the ground.... So - when you turn the steering - the tyre contact patch is dragged across the ground in an arc, rather than just rotating on the spot.

Hi all thanks for the comments yes they are 5.5" slots everthing is grease up new rack the prob is the engine is heavyer than the standed 1098 toyota mr2my point is if I go say 165/65/13or 165/70/13 would it be worse or better the tyre pressure is 30 was running at 26little bit better neil

I think the tyres will need to be at 36 /38 psi - and you 'forgot' to mention the much heavier engine :o :o :o :roll: :roll: :roll:
