You should have the spacer packing Pt No: AAA3749.
In the extremis the bush relay Pt No: AAA3750 could push through the chassis because of the spring pressure on the shaft and bush and the inner end of the relay shaft could come adrift from the gearbox and you would lose the ability to operate the clutch and engage gear.
The spacer is there for a reason.

yes fair point i have just found it in my manual , no comments about always read the instructions !!!, with it missing accounts for the pedal link rod being close to the chassi and wiring

My advice for what it is worth is to obtain and fit the packing piece for complete peace of mind.
If it goes wrong it will always go wrong at the wrong time and in the wrong place.
If I can find a spare packing piece you can have it for free.

Martin
I have just spent some time looking through my various gash boxes and I know that I have more than one spacer which was left over from converting my clutch to hydraulic operation but cannot find even one.
If someone can give me the thickness of the plate I can soon drill a couple of 1/4" holes at the required distance apart in a piece of flat plate of which I have several pieces of various thicknesses.
