hi all , just looking for a bit of info , my 1955 s2 has a 1098 engine and thick back plate fitted to the 803 gearbox , it all works nicely no clutch judder etc but i have no idea as to the flywheel / clutch combination i am wondering do all the 803/948/1098 flywheel and clutch parts fit and are all minor gearbox splines the same ? i know my gearbox is noisy in third and at some stage i will convert a 948 / 1098 gearbox box to fit my long gear change , i have already fitted a 1098 diff , any thoughts appreciated

A 948 or 1098 gearbox will be fine. The 1098 flywheel uses a slightly larger clutch - which can only be used with a 1098 box.

"The 1098 flywheel uses a slightly larger clutch " Only if someone has drilled and tapped it to take the smaller clutch.....so highly unlikely.

It's likely to be an 803/948 flywheel and clutch...
