Don't believe whats written or said
This is a bit of a long story so if your attention span is minimal leave now.
Nobody left?
Took my series mm for a run before a show tomorrow, 200 yards down the road engine cut out, restarted 100 yard s cut out again, limped home, had a coffee , said to myself could be the condenser, dismissed the coil because ( everybody) ITS NEVER THE COIL, rigged up an external a-series condenser as i did not have a series mm one, down the road cutting out again, restarted, pump going like the clappers, no fuel? .Bit of history lesson now, had to change the tank (old one leaking),for one off the traveller a few weeks ago its a larger tank and used the original sender so not accurate. Put in spare fuel, started up,down to petrol station filled up to top, going OK then not, limped home pump going like the clappers again. It must be the pump, changed for the traveller pump, Starts up fine then pump going like the clappers again, no fuel getting through? . Thinks,,on the tank from the traveller I could not get pipe out of tank( soldered in!!) cut off leaving 3ins of pipe out of the tank, new pipe on series mm, don't want to cut it, thinks!! bend it back to front of car to join to the tank pipe, get a length of FUEL PIPE ( has fuel hose stamped on it) has a nice soft S shape in it to connect the two pipes together. Had a look at the connection the FUEL PIPE has gone soft and expanded and now has a kink and not a soft S shape blocking the fuel . Cut off good union from fuel pipe reconnect two pieces of pipe with hose, whilst getting soaked in petrol as tank full to the brim and cant get drain plug loose.
Moral of the story. If it says FUEL Hose on the pipe, treat that statement with a pinch of salt.
So to the zero people still with me GOOD NIGHT

I think it's a cryptic clue....SUE482 wrote:I'm still up but I cand understand what you said. Goodnight
6 across is Passover, which would mean the word begins with an S.
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Re: Don't believe whats written or said
I've had a similar problem with both a petrol strimmer and petrol chainsaw that I bought a few years ago. After 2 years the pick-up hose that goes into the fuel tank goes swollen/brittle and just isn't fit for purpose. Replaced it with known good quality hose and it works fine

Glad to be back!

Re: Don't believe whats written or said
there's a lot of problems with dodgy 'fuel hose' around the car fraternity now..
Yours is the second one I've spotted on Minor forums, but a few friends of mine are building kit cars and they've all mentioned similar things from kit forums.
I was hoping it was actually the coil (never say never) - modern reproduction coils are far less reliable, but they used to fail in the good old days as well.

Don't know about over there, but over here most of our fuel (petrol to you, gasoline to us) has 10% ethanol in it. Lot's of problems with fuel hoses since it was introduced.
Talk slow, think fast!

We've had up to 5% for a decade or so, and more hype than real issues.
Now we're getting "up to 10%" which is more of an issue, but 15% is likely to come at some point.
E85 is on the market (85% ethanol) but not many people can use it!
