Engine mountings

Post by meganwilkinson2008 »

Hi can anyone tell me if it is possible to change the engine mountings without the use of an engine hoist.I was going to use a block of wood under the sump and wondered if this was possible thanks.

Yes. just as you describe. You get better access by removing the front panel. It is also easier if you remove the engine steady bar from the bulkhead end, but it's not essential, just makes the engine easier to move around.

yes no problem just done mine , i removed the engine rear stabilizer and removed the n/s engine mount tower from the chassi so there is enough movement to get the o/s mount in , to be fair i did mine with the front of so i would say removing the rad might be a good idea ,

Be aware that at least some of the new mounts being sold these days are 'too hard' - and seem to sit the engine up slightly too high, and to transmit vibration in to the shell. If the old mounts are serviceable - stick with them......
