Oil Filter 'o'ring suppliers?

Hi there everyone,
I apologise for not posting on here very often, I read the posts with interest but I'm mostly too busy to actually do much, socially.
I have however encountered a problem relating to the Purolator type oil filter.
On my previous oil change I tried in vain to 'match up' the 'o' ring that seals the bolt and bottom cup washer, so I ended up re using the old one and keep a watchful eye for leaks in the interim.
I ordered part number 10M284 'o'ring from a well known retailer which was really overpriced and doesn't do the job because it is obviously not of the correct dimensions to seal against both the bolt shank and the cup washer as originally designed to.
My question is Please!!! can anyone direct me to a reliable supply source?
Also, In my haste to reassemble and get running again I forgot to measure the bolt shank O.D. (7/16" I think??) and the washer recess. if anyone can supply me with these measurements I'd be grateful. In case I have to 'stumble onto one' on my travels :)
Thanks
Jawelnofine.

It's not something I have ever had to renew. For O rings I bought a box of many different sizes at a car show for a couple of quid - may be the way to go ? The tiny ones make excellent tyres for my Dublo diesels and have paid for the box many times over already!

You can convert to a spin on filter, which in effect simplifies the oil filter into one part. One of mine has a spin on filter fitted (when I got the car), I don't particularly prefer either as it happens, but it may save you a fair bit of hassle?

Are you sure that it is a Purolator oil filter housing because if it is the washer you want for the Purolator oil is Part No: 7H2281.
If it is a Tecalemit oil filter housing the washer you want is Part No: 7H1759.
The diamensions of the required washer and fitted to the Minor Purolator filter head/alloy bowl/with filter blockage indicator switch is:-
Thickness:- 3.1mm
O.D.:- 15.5mm
I.D.:- 9.5mm

The diameter of the bolt is 3/8".

Thank you all for your replies, Philthehill, thanks for the dimensions. I have, with the aid of a vernier, managed to get a generic BS.standard number for said O rings. BS.204. viton 75. metric sizes 9.12mm(3/8") OD and 3.53(1/8") cross section.
If I may be of some help to others with this similar problem, I ordered 10 from Ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321248383124? ... 1497.l2649
cost £2.80.
I'd be willing to post my surplus at unit cost plus 2nd class postage, if there's anyone struggling.

So, hope my research is of some use.
Wishing everyone happy motoring!

I've only had one of these that leaked - your solution was better than mine!

Rayofleamington,
going back to the 70's when I had my first 4 door 1000 in Rhodesia, those o rings and all other rubber components were included with the filter kits from the BMC agents in Main Street, Bulawayo, and so I always used to change them alongwith the flat rubber seal above the washer and the filter bowl seal.
It's wierd how someone has come up with the idea of supplying the wrong ones at £1.80 plus postage. Seems to have spurred on a 'price war' to see who can charge the most and deliver the least value for money :D
Just a query... I don't suppose the filter would be 'unfit for purpose' without the 'o' ring??? We'll all just drive around with steady oil leaks shall we? hmmm :-?
As a matter of interest, what was your solution ? I'd thought of using a wrong O ring to seal the cup washer and a 3/8" copper washer between the bolt head and the cup washer to seal the bolt, but that was an absolute last resort as the squish of the o rings supplied is minimal. So this may have leaked in service if the o ring went brittle at any stage.

The best in jest,
Jawelnofine.
