Hi folks,
Hot weather is great, apart from the van has started to missfire, glitched all the way home. Started to pop and bang in the exhaust, was worst on hills.
Ive had this before either with a ignition coil or fuelpump in the heat. Anyone else got similar probs out there?
Im gonna work thru the system and check points and plugs and clean the fuel pump points, I did wonder if there was a vapour lock in the fuel lines in the warm weather?
Cheers

Could be the fuel vapourising - is the fuel pump hammering away? Try it with the tank near 'full'. It's never the coil... Could be points gap!

Thanks for the reply.
Thought it was the points as there was almost no gap, took it for a run after gapping them at 14 thou and it was fine until it warmed up after about a mile or so then it started again, think im gonna swap the coil just to see what happens.
Cant believe it ran with almost closed points!

Re: Glitch in the matrix
Replaced the coil with a spare which made it worse, tried another one which was the same and the third one it wouldnt fire at all.
So put the old coil back on, cleaned the points and re gapped them a bit smaller and replace the condenser, which seems to have sorted it, my money is on a iffy condenser.
Only downside is in the twilight I noticed the red charge light on the dash is staying on with the ignition off, so Ive turned the battery off and called it quits til tomorrow. (control box points ?)

Have you checked the vacuum advance tube/pipe? I had similar symptoms to this with a split pipe.

Re: Glitch in the matrix
Thanks,
Ill check the pipe tomorrow, its the old metal one not a new plastic one. So it could have rusted through.
