Engine Size/s

Hmm

MOWOG Cylinder Head
8A629 S M

Any ideas on size (I suspect a 948 Austin Engine, for A30 , but could be (very) wrong)
Please help, and whatever will it fit a 948 block with no adjustments.

Collets seem to be the split pair type with no top retaining springs (unless they got lost in a strip down and re-build)

It also seems to have 'flappy' rockers - wider and flatter to what I am used to, is this indicating an 803cc A Series Engine?
Again are rockers interchangable with later rockers?

Thanks

Both the head and the rockers will fit the 948cc Minor engine without any serious modification. :D Do not mix the rockers, just change the complete assembly. Make sure that the oil feed to the rocker shaft lines up with the transfer gallery in the head. You may have to swop No: 1 and No: 2 rocker posts to accommodate or drill through the post using the post drilled for the transfer of oil as a pattern.

The collets will have a groove for the clips if they are intended. Rockers, there are cast rockers, pressed steel rockers, and solid steel rockers but no flappy ones!

Les
You forgot the Sintered Steel ones which I think are the flat flappy ones being referred to :D
From the description it appears that the parts are from a late A+ engine but could be wrong.
The clips for the collets can be left off without any detriment to the engine. Never known for a collet to fly off if initially fitted correctly.

I am confident that all will be well :D :D :D
Is it on 'e' bay ? If you give me the link I can check it out to confirm what it is. I have looked but cannot find it!
Best of luck with the fitting and make sure that the oil-ways are lined up.

Seems an odd combination - and 'old' head and 'new' rockers. But all will be well. I'm sure. And don't worry about the silly 'clips' - absolutely not necessary.

Having taken off the alledged 948cc head this afternoon things get more mysterious, hardly running the car since the last engine dis-integration it looks like some 20years ago a more used and less worked on unit was fitted, it is incredible dirty, yet didn't seem to be bad the last time I drove it about 5 years ago. Ill post pixs and casting numbers later.
