After my engine decided it no longer wanted to run properly I started to do some investigating…

My carb had lost all it's oil, which was swiftly replenished.
My vacuum advance was knackered and was replaced with a new vacuum advance unit.

My engine was still running poorly so I timed it and set the mixture.

I now have an engine which runs beautifully at idle but unfortunately misfires when I accelerate up hills.

No.3 cylinder is a little down on power but I have no reason to suspect this causing my problems

Coil is new and working fine.
Plug leads old but working fine
Spark plugs old but working fine
Condenser is working but I'm not sure if it's a good one however as it accelerates fine with no load I'm sure it's not the source of my issues.

I'm going to treat myself to some new plugs, plug leads, condenser and rotor arm anyway as they're handy to have spare.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be my problem?

You have a new vac unit, but is the pipe OK, or leaking? Change the air filter for a clean one.

How do you know #3 is down on power? If you accelerate flat out on the level is it ok? Is the misfire ONLY on a hill ? It's probably a fuel delivery problem . partial blockage from the tank/blocked filter in the pump. Is it any better if the tank is 'full' ?
