Reconditioned Speedo

Post by Offshore »

Hi guys.

My odometer has stopped working. The needle wavers at high speed but is steady at 50 or less.

Do I send it away to be refurbished or buy one from one of the main suppliers already done? The cost is the same.

Do commercially available units have the odometer reset to zero?

Cheers.

Why not just buy a speedo from ebay...there are MANY about. Just check the tpm with the seller to be sure it matches what you have at present.

I had to buy a new speedometer a couple of years ago for much the same reason .I bought mine [refurbished] from E.S.M. and yes the mileage reading is zeroed plus you get a guarantee as well but not sure if it was 3 months or twelve months and you have to send yours back to them on an exchange basis, cost me about £3.50 to send back . :D

p.s if you do buy a refurbed one don't forget to take the voltage regulator off the back before you post yours back to them.

Thanks guys.

Will keep an eye on ebay etc. But may if holidaying in the UK in the wife's car take the opportunity to send mine away to be serviced and repaired.

Will let you know how I get on.

Had a pop at a couple on Ebay. Went past what I was prepared to pay ie the cost of having mine serviced. Looks like decision made. Will send mine off to J D Ostick whilst wife and I are off on 2 weeks hols. Seems the best use of time. Thanks for the replies guys. Will try and report back on the service etc if I remember but they seem highly spoken of.
