Ok... I'm going to be brave!

My traveller needs a new fuel pump.... I'm going to fit it myself.

Comments on good place to order what I need online.... Also any advice on fitting for a novice like me!

I recommend their electronic conversion kits - had one on the Traveller for several years now, with no problems.

Not sure i would be capable of doing an electronic conversion... so how would I know which pump would be the correct one for my 1967 traveller?

If it is NON electronic, it is not polarity sensitive. What's wrong with your pump??

Had RAC out (guy used to work on Morris cars) said it was faulty and need replacing, but that I should be able to do it myself. OK stupid question.. the one that is on the car is clearly connected in some way to the battery ... does that make it an electronic pump???

Scratch that, regarding what sort.. this is the one thats on that is malfunctioning so I will get one of these as a replacement.

That's the one, don't throw away the old one since its quite possible it can be repaired to just as good as new with a new diaphraghm and points (or basically a repair kit).

Did he do anything to revive your old pump? Did he test the pump by trying to pump some fuel up into a can? All it likely needs is a quick clean of the points - a ladies nail-file stick is ideal - just pull it through gently between the points a couple of times.

Generally i'd agree, and it takes only a few minutes at most but if the points are badly worn/eroded/burnt, don't bother. Replacing the points only takes 30 mins longer than replacing the pump an saves a small fortune..

He tested it more than I would know what to do. As I say, he has worked on Morris cars so took his advice. And if the old pump is salvageable then I can sell that so no worries.

It's certainly worth having a spare in the boot to save you the trouble of trying to fix troublesome pump issues and trying to replace points by the road side.

I agree with Ray - if the initial cleaning of the points gets the pump going again, then a new set of points fitted 'at your convenience' is the route to go.

Bad day today.. In last 24 hrs fuel pump gone.... fuel line bust on my petrol auger mid fence post hole.. and then the throttle line on mower snapped! Grrrrr

Errrr - have you ever considered Stamp Collecting, rather than petrol engines, for a hobby?

No idea what was going on today! Think its because the mower and auger have been thrashed sorting out the 2 acre plot we bought! You can imagine my cursing and general outlook after it all happened seemingly together!
